Our Mission

The unwavering mission of P.O.W.E.R. Academy is to establish a safe and sober learning environment that not only supports, but meticulously addresses the individual educational needs of adolescents struggling with Substance Use and Mental Health Disorders. Our primary focus is centered on providing a foundation that ensures continuous academic, emotional, social, and spiritual growth creating a supportive environment where our students abstinence and education can thrive.

Our Vision

To create a world in which adolescents in recovery can live and be substance-free, emotionally balanced, mentally stable, socially adjusted and lead purposeful lives thriving in education and enriching their communities.

Our Philosophy

While the primary objective of P.O.W.E.R. Academy is to provide a safe and sober educational program, we recognize that our students need time during the school day to develop tools, strategies and resources for maintaining a substance-free life. These combined objectives will help our students succeed and achieve long-term sobriety as they continue to live and work in their communities. P.O.W.E.R. Academy strives to encourage and empower students to continue their recovery journey beyond their attendance at our school as they continue onto college, a career or another high school.

Core Values (Recovery)

Respect - Respect of self, family, friends and community.

Empowerment - Empower students to achieve their personal goals in education and recovery by promoting self-efficacy and autonomy.

Collaboration- Work collaboratively with students Recovery Capitol (personal, community, social) including Young People in AA (YPAA) or Alternative Peer Group (APG), counselors, family, sponsors, friends and any other relevant parties in supporting students emotional, social, mental, physical, academic, and spiritual development.

Open - Build open and honest relationships with communication and active listening.

Values - Develop moral values in students by leading by example with respect, integrity, honesty, humility, kindness, gratitude, acceptance and compassion.

Education - Provide a curriculum that will hold students to high academic standards.

Relapse Prevention - Ensure all students have the support and resources necessary for long-term recovery.

Youth - We are dedicated to advocating and understanding the challenges adolescents may face in society, education, and substance use disorder.

Touchstones

Community: Partnership-based education at P.O.W.E.R. Academy values connection, respect, and equality among students and staff. The emphasis is on respect that honors each student’s unique path and growth.

Recovery: Students voluntarily attend P.O.W.E.R. Academy and the tenets of recovery, including some philosophies of a Twelve Step recovery program is aligned into our daily schedule as part of our mission and purpose.

Education: P.O.W.E.R. Academy tailors a state-approved academic program to each student’s learning pace and style. Individualization encourages, motivates and engages students to enjoy learning.

Service: Volunteering / Community Service is proven to improve self-esteem and mental health, gives a sense of purpose, provides structure, teaches new skills, and provides unique experiences, all in which play a powerful part in recovery. P.O.W.E.R. Academy provides opportunities for students to participate in serving their community.
